Fire Simulator Importing to Media Library

Importing into the User Collection in the Media Library

The fire simulator Media Library consists of pictures and effects supplied with the system (StageIT Collections) and custom pictures and effects that you import (User Collections).  In the example above you can see the provided folders for Video, Sounds and Images that you can fill with your imported files.  The lower window shows a sample of the selected clip above.

User Collections:
You can add your own photos, video and effects into the Media Library.  Any digital picture, digital video or digitized sound effect can be imported into the User Collections.

Picture In Picture: You can import a completed stage as a Windows Media File and use it for a picture in picture effect. Special thanks to Don Arbuckle with the Portland Airport who has provided the following Stages for demonstration. Don has used some of the advanced features in StageIT to show how you can cutout a piece of the photo and layer it back in to put the smoke and fire behind an object.  We have used the PIP effect in StageIT by importing one of his completed stages and compositing this opposing view into a new stage for demonstration.  CLICK HERE to play the PIP Effect Video

To import media:

1.       On the Media Library toolbar, click the arrow next to the Import icon and select the type of media to import.

2.       Navigate to the location of the file, select it, and click Open.

You can import pictures of any size into StageIT, but for ease of use in sizing animations, speeding up rendering of a simulation, and matching with video clips, we recommend that imported pictures be 800 x 600. You can capture DV video using Windows Movie Maker if you have a Firewire card in your computer.  You can save it as a WMV or AVI file and import it into your video User Collections.  Or you can publish and import the completed stage as a Windows Media Video file as is shown in the window above.

3.       If you want to import more than a single file, StageIT provides an import “files from folders” function that imports all the useable information (videos, graphics and sounds) into the user collection while maintaining and representing the imported files within the original folder structure found in the Windows file system.

4.       To import an entire file folder, on the Media Library toolbar, click the arrow next to the Import icon and select Files From Folders from the drop down list. Navigate to the folder and select it. The imported file or folder will appear in the User Collections.

5.       You can also import into User Collections area by right-clicking on a folder and selecting the type of media to import.
