Fire Simulator Editing Clip Properties

Editing Clip Properties

One of the most powerful tools in StageIT is the ability to edit clip properties. Using the Properties window, attributes can be adjusted for any clip or object placed in a stage, allowing for the creation of very realistic effects in a simulation . You can make objects fade in or out, adjust transparency levels, change sound levels, delay when objects will appear in your simulation, change the speed at which clips play and resize change aspect ratio or relocate objects. Properties that cannot be adjusted for a particular object will be dimmed in the Properties window or will not be available on the list.

In the window above you can see that  in the “Stage” called “Bryce Run Out Video” the clip called “Single Explosion” is set with a “Start Delay” of 7 seconds.  Here is a download link to a simulation that shows several examples of the properties listed below.  PROPERTIES VIDEO CLIP

Once you become familiar with managing properties you will find that you have nearly limitless control of the objects in your Media Library. Some of the properties that you can adjust to modify the simulation are:

§          Size – varies the size and aspect ratio of the media numerically or by click and drag.
§
Speed – varies how fast the clip runs
§
Duration – varies how long the clip lasts
§
Fade – allows the clip to appear or disappear gradually
§
Start delay – delays the start of a clip after the start of the stage
§
Transparency – varies how see-through the clip is
§
Visibility – controls whether you can see the clip during editing complex animations
§
Layer  – sets which layer appears in front or behind the others
§
Insert  type – to appear one time only or to fill entire length of stage
§
Mute – to silence the audio on a video or audio clip during editing
§
Mark In / Mark out – lets you select which portion of a video or clip you want to use
§
Volume – sets level of audio clip or clips for a mix down
§
Location – gives X and Y coordinates of a clip set by dragging or entering values
§
Rotation – allows you to rotate an image such as smoke damage to fit the scene
§
Flip – takes an image and flips it left to right or up to upside down
